This study analyzes procedures and elements involved in squatter/slum clearance and resettlement programs, particularly the historical socioeconomic development of Sapang Palay since 1960. Part of the study is a forecast of the future of squatter/slum clearance and resettlement programs in the Philippines with emphasis on the need for sound economic investment in basic infrastructure and other socioeconomic facilities
