Using interviews with a randomly selected sample of residents of the housing project Social Security System Marikina I in Bayanbayanan, Rizal, the paper assesses the reactions of occupants to housing space and design as they actually experience it. It contains several points of interest, namely, household size, space utilization, privacy, alterations made and reasons for making them, effect of suburban living on family expenditures, and aspirations of the respondents. Based on its findings, the paper forwards some measures to facilitate family adjustments to housing design
