Summary, etc. The purpose of this paper is to analyze government policies affecting fertilizer prices during the postwar period emphasizing the policies after 1973. The authors approach distinguishes the impact of government policies on the price of fertilizer paid by farmers from the price received by domestic fertilizer producers. The impact of both broad economic policies pertaining to exchange rate, tariffs, taxes, import qoutas, etc. and policies specific to the industry such as price control and direct subsidies is quantified. Before that, however, the growth and characteristics of the fertilizer market are briefly described
