The regional market perspective of electrical appliances in the Philippines /

By: Paluszka, Robert.
Series: Vol. 3 No. 5 First Sem 1976.Description: p.48-65.Subject(s): Electric appliances - Philippines | Regional market perspective In: NEDA Journal of DevelopmentSummary: This study presents the regional market perspective of electrical appliances in the Philippines. The shortcomings of industry statistics are presented in Section II. This was attributable to the wholly inadequate and incomplete regional sales figure which the majority of industry firms could provide. Section III points out the factors determining regional shares and these are: discretionary income, appliance prices, and rate of replacement. In newly developing product markets, and the countries which have yet to achieve minimum levels of infrastructure endowments (electricity, roads, housing) such factors prove to have little relevance. For the Philippine appliance market framework, it becomes necessary to identify those factors which are instrumental in affecting sales; and to determine if all electrical appliances are equally affected by the same influences. Section IV, the source for all statistics employed in the present analysis was the 1970 Census of Population and Housing
