The findings are preliminary in two senses: first, they consist of the initial analysis of the data; and second, they are only part of a larger project to assess the economic benefits and costs of children to the survey households. Section II of this paper summarizes family time data and gives estimates of the contribution of children to family income for 573 rural households.
