| Summary, etc. | The main purpose of the Macroeconomic Social Accounting Framework's (MSAF) is to give one-page summaries of the circular flow of the Philippine economy and allow for a comprehensive analysis of the structural changes therein between 1974 and 1987. This article reports on the construction method of the MSAFs and its relation to existing data sources. The remainder of this article is organized as follows. Section 2 gives the basic accounting concepts and describes the design of the MSAFs. Section 3 describes the main data sources used in the compilation of the matrices. Section 4 gives a brief discussion of the construction methodology by main blocks and section 5 gives some general conclusions about data reliability, consistency checks and further applications of the MSAFs |
